The most recent is the conclusion of the exchange of letters I had with David Sloan Wilson about his new novel Atlas Hugged. I asked David about the philosophy behind the novel (which you don't have to have read to enjoy the exchange, but you should definitely go get it), and his responses, as expected, were deep and illuminating. I was particularly happy with my 9th letter in which I was driven to express my evolutionary ethics in a new and I hope powerful way, which I hope to expand upon soon. If you get the chance, let me know what you think of that, and of the exchange in general. I was pretty thrilled to have it!
The second item is a long review titled "In Praise of Evolutionary Philosophy (Gibney 2012)". It was written by Joe Velikovsky who is a writer, independent scholar, and member of the Applied Evolutionary Epistemology Lab. Joe came across my original philosophy book recently and as you can tell from the title, he wrote a glowing review of it. His in-depth coverage has so many details in it, and adds so many of his own thoughts, that it's basically a #longread version of the book. Here are a couple of blurbs I pulled from Joe's review, but if you want a quick(ish) dose of my thinking, combined with lots of Joe's own original (and good!) ideas, then be sure to check it out.
"...there are some other pre-existing books on Evolutionary Philosophy...but, they're not as accessible, and easy-to-read."
"In short: Brilliant! Remarkable. Bravo!"
That's all for now. Happy New Year! Here's to things getting better from here on out.
