Bridging the Is-Ought DivideIn January 2015, I had a paper published in the peer-reviewed journal of the Association for the Study of Ethical Behavior and Evolutionary Philosophy in Literature. The paper is titled "Bridging the Is-Ought Divide" and it's a bold essay proposing an objective and universal basis for morality. The conclusion of the paper can be summed up as:
Life is. Life wants to remain an is. Therefore, life ought to act to remain alive. By "life", I mean all of it over evolutionary timeframes. To understand more about this, and to see why this proposed solution solves David Hume's original formulation of the greatest problem in moral philosophy, I highly suggest reading my paper in its entirety.
